LiteralDan tagged me to do this Fivespot meme. Some of these questions I'm not even sure I have five answers for but I'll do my best!
What were you doing five years ago?
Alfred and I just announced to our family that I was pregnant with Katelyn. We were also less than a month away from celebrating our first wedding anniversary in Vegas, baby!
What are/were five things on your to-do list for today?
- Have lunch with my best buddy, jaedeevee.
- Have dinner with my baby sister and the Hiepster.
- Workout extra hard to burn the calories from lunch and dinner.
- Pick up some stuff from the grocery store so I can do a "trial run" on Jacob's birthday cake this weekend.
- Start on the cajillion loads of laundry that we're behind on.
What five snacks do you enjoy?
- Lemons.
- Regular Ruffles or Lay's potato chips.
- Artichoke with sour cream.
- Nuts (pretty much any kind).
- Flamin' Hot Cheetos.
What five things would you do if you were a billionaire?
- Alfred and I would quit our jobs.
- Share with our parents and siblings.
- Travel.
- Donate and become involved in charities.
- Invest and save the rest!
What are five of your bad habits?
- I'm a compulsive spender. I buy now, think later.
- I love to eat.
- I don't know why I do it nor do I even realize that I do it but, according to Alfred, I rub my nose really HARD in my sleep (it drives Alfred cuh-RA-zee!)
- I ramble when I'm telling a story (THAT'S where my kids get it from).
- I pick onions out of my food.
What are five places you have lived?
- Pearl City, HI
- Sunnyvale, CA
- San Jose, CA
- Chicago, IL
- San Diego, CA
What are five jobs you have had?
- I worked part-time at a banking services company stuffing bank statements when I was 16.
- Sea World (back when the Coco Loco Arcade and Games used to be the Boardwalk) I was a "barker" for the carnival games.
- Receptionist at an insurance brokerage.
- Client Service Representive at an insurance brokerage.
- Account Manager at an insurance brokerage.
What five people do you want to tag?
I'll just let the five people choose themselves. You know who you are. You know you wanna do it.
Desiree is also part of a group at her school called Papia. Papia is in organization that helps the students gain knowledge and appreciation for asian/pacific islander heritage. The group will often times perform at festivals, open houses, etc. Desiree is currently learning tahitian dance through this organization and will be having her first performance at the end of this month at a banquent that Papia is hosting. She has shown us at home what she had been learning but since it's a group performance, we can't get a true appreciation until we see the whole group dance so I'm excited to finally get a chance to do so.
In other "dance" news, I've convinced my sister to take the Hip Hop Cardio dance class at Culture Shock Dance Studio with me on Saturday! I was intimidated by the first group of people that I had seen who were taking this class but since then, I've seen such a variety of people come in to take the class (young, old, tall, short, big, small, coordinated, not-so-coordinated) that it got me to thinking that perhaps I wouldn't stand out as an oddball in the class as much as I thought I might. Of course, now that I've said it, Saturday will probably be the day that ONLY the young and coordinated people decide to come take the class and I WILL stand out as the dork who is unable to do that pop-and-lock move no matter how slow and how many times they try to teach it. The last time I took an group aerobic class of any kind was a "basic" step class years ago when step classes were the "thing" to do. It was my first step class ever. The teacher would announce a transition and everyone seemed to know what that move was - everyone but ME - and by the time I'd get the gist of what everyone was doing, they'd be on to another move. The teacher was very happy to point out that I could not keep up. I don't see why it was necessary for her to do so. I guess she was THAT annoyed by lack of coordination. I didn't even finish the class. I left shortly after she pointed my uncoordinated a$$ out. And that is why I only do workout DVD videos at home now. Wish me luck on Saturday because I'm having all kinds of anxiety about being singled out for my inability to move in the right direction as everyone else or to do the body wave properly.

Papia sounds wonderful! I do hope that something like that is available here when my daughter is schoolage :)
Good for you for working out!
We love the doodlebops!
I can't get over your snack choices. That list is enough to make my belly scream for mercy! Except the nuts, of course. I love me a good nut. ;-)
OK, that uncoordinated thing is why I stick to running. No steps to learn, no one around to point out that my moves are spastic!
But seriously, good luck on Saturday. Just go in there knowing you are all that and work it! Have fun!
PS: I say go for the marathon one day. It is a super thing to do!
Sounds like 'Dance, Dance, Fever' over at your place. :D That's great. Good luck to Desiree on her dance performance, and to you on the cardio...
you can do it!!!1 i'll be rooting for you! i so understand what you mean... when i did yoga again for the first time in years i was a complete mess. but seriously i am way better after 2 mos!!! hahah!
What the heck is that person doing teaching...When you teach, you should be building and not destroying.
When this thing happens again, here's a great comeback: "If I'm coordinated (you can replace this with anything like, something about singing)then you would be out of job."
Lizaa - So, are we going to see you on Saturday too? Hope so! The more the merrier!
Sandy - The Doodlebops are actually SECOND next to Yo Gabba Gabba. My kids have a thing for strange looking characters.
Burgh Baby - Ask me if I've ever eaten all those snacks in one sitting. The answer - yes, and lived to tell about it!
FelicePD - I will definitely work towards a marathon some day! I think I'm crazy like that!
Tara - We ARE all about dancing right now. Thanks to America's Best Dance Crew and So You Think You Can Dance - love those shows!
Mommmytherobot - thanks for the encouragement! I'm sure I'll be stumbling about but it will still be fun!
Chris - thanks for having my back! What a lame teacher, huh? I wonder how many people came back to her class after THAT.
Hey, thanks for checking out my blog! Yours is gorgeous! I like your style; honest, care-free, and adventurous. I'll be back!
Oh my gosh, I am so jealous that you guys are going to take a hip hop class. I would love to go with!
